Health Services – Seniors and Disabled Individuals
The Health Department has several programs to help older adults and people with disabilities.
Adults who are at risk of going to a nursing home can receive services to help them stay living at home through the AERS program. Eligible clients in Community First Choice and Community Options Waiver and Medical Assistance programs may receive visits from a nurse through the Medical Assistance Nurse Monitoring Program. For more information on long-term care options, see our page of links on Long-Term Care.
Older and disabled adults may receive volunteer services such as friendly visits, help with errands, and yard work through Caring Carroll. Volunteers are always welcome.
The Health Department’s Alzheimer’s Disease Support Group was recently discontinued due to low participation. Click the link for other caregiver support groups in Carroll County.
For additional resources for older adults, check the Bureau of Aging and Disabilities Resource Guide.
